Dr. Stefaan De Clercq performs over 1000 abdominal surgical procedures a
year, focusing on:
- Bariatric surgery (laparoscopic gastric bypass, laparoscopic gastric
banding and laparoscopic gastric sleeve resection as well as the more advanced and complex
procedures as conversions of Scopinaro BPD, VBG or gastric band to gastric bypass)
- Colorectal Tumors (complete laparoscopic approach since 2003).
- Abdominal wall surgery (Endoscopic approach of abdominal wall repair;
complex groin problems)
Dr. Stefaan De Clercq is Specialized and certified in Advanced Laparoscopic
Surgery and teaches laparoscopic techniques to Belgian residents at IRCAD. He is recognized
by Covidien to teach advanced bariatric procedures to fellow European surgeons (United Kingdom,
Ireland, and the Netherlands)
Dr. De Clercq has given several oral and video/poster presentations at International Congresses
(IFSO, EAES, IRCAD) focusing on bariatric surgical procedures and abdominal wall surgery
Other Medical Activities:
